Volunteer
Do you have some spare time? We have various voluntary roles available.....
* EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES VOLUNTEERS - If you have the occasional Saturday/Sunday afternoon spare we are looking for volunteers to help with our activities, parties etc. Roles may include making teas/coffees, setting up and taking down tables and chairs and generally assisting with the smooth running of an event. You do not need any special skills for this type of voluntary work but if you are able to assist in any activities through craft skills or anything our members might enjoy then do get in touch.
* COMMITTEE MEMBERS - Our committee is currently at full capacity but members come and go so please do let us know if this would be of interest to you. New committee members are generally voted in at the AGM in November but can join at other times of the year. We have a committee meeting every two months approximately as well as the AGM. As part of the committee you are helping to ensure the smooth running of Taunton Mencap as well as ensuring what we do is in the best interests of the local learning disabled community.
Fundraise
As a small charity we rely completely on fundraising, grants and donations in order to keep providing a yearly calendar of activities, trips, parties and events to help the local adult learning disabled community to participate fully in life. Occasionally we do fundraising collections at supermarkets, sports grounds and local events - we need plenty of people who can help with these opportunities when they arise so if you think you will have a few hours to spare now and then please get in touch.
Also, if you want to fundraise for us in any way that would be massively appreciated and we will support you in any way we can. Whether you want to do a run, a skydive, a bake sale or any other endeavour to raise funds for Taunton Mencap it will be a huge help to us as a charity.
In the summer months mainly, but perhaps at other times as well, our trustee Malcolm Sedgbeer is looking for people to attend car boot sales with him to sell items that have been kindly donated to be sold on behalf of Taunton Mencap. He would also be glad of help sorting through the items that people donate as we are lucky to be inundated at times!
